WQHD T420 *wip

#1 Post by TPFanatic » Wed Sep 25, 2019 9:57 pm

Continuing from my i7 2670qm in T420 story:

I took delivery of and installed the eqstore QHD adapter for T420 and T430.

Included in the box was a baggy with four screw spacers. I will not end up using them because I am placing the adapter board over the upper DIMM slot.

Image

The adapter cabling. Like the current version of the FHD mod, the eDP cable is long enough to run from the upper DIMM slot.

My initial placement, it later caused the keyboard to bulge up so I repositioned it.

The first boot to Windows, no flickering.

Final placement.

The WQHD display tested in the T420 was borrowed from my T430s with the RMSmajestic / javijie adapter, and is now back in the T430s which remains my daily driver for this time. My plan for the T420 is to game on it but can I say what the future holds?

Sweet mod dude! Now I gotta put some money aside so I can do the FHD mod for my X220. Sandy-Bridge era ThinkPads are still amazing daily drivers!
