My desk, which has served me well through highschool, university and was until recently home to a 19" CRT monitor

Much nicer with the new Z60m.

Leaving soon to teach English overseas, maybe I'll snap some new shots when I get there

Cool setup! I keep as much or more stuff around my desk as you!!

I remember the days with the T2X series and my MONSTER 21"CRT on the desk connected to the dock....there was NO ROOM for anything else! The CRT (IBM Branded) is OLDER then dirt and a true workhorse, a friend of mine still uses it (he moved to Cali and always bugged me about buying it, so when he moved out there; I gave it to him....missed it for about 2 seconds after I installed the 17" LCD that replaced it)

Is that "El Che" in the poster?

picked that airbrushed piece up for $20 at a long-since-gone odds and ends store. Same with the nifty hand carved Carlsberg wooden logo

Teaching English? How long are you staying?

Tokyo has really nice transportation system. Little pollution, but that's same for New York & Chicago.

Note - summer is THE nightmare for any visitor in East Asia b/c of monsoon season.

You will find this out soon enough

The trains are pretty much packed solid most of the time. Although the system is very efficient.

Last time we were over was when my younger daughter was representing the US at a competition in Toyota City and we had gone along as a family to attend, including elder daughter.

Somehow or other, no matter how packed the car might be when the train arrived and the doors opened, a space would magically appear to allow my tall, slim, blond daughters to get on.

Truly mystifying.

actually i have travelled to Japan on four previous occasions, most recently over the Christmas holidays. I know what to expect, and I'm from
Toronto so as big as Tokyo is its not a total shock to me. I'll be going for one year, I'm actually going to be living on the outskirts of Tokyo in Kawasaki.

The public transportation system is far beyond anything in North America, Tokyo alone has 6 or 7 different train lines for itself alone plus the underground subway and Shinkansen service (bullet train). From what I remember it wasn't that bad trying to get on the train, then again I didn't have to travel too much during rush hour.

They have some COOL gadgets that you can not find here (yes, there are some websites that cater to this stuff; but the pictures are lame), can you take some pics and POST THE LINKS here...in particular, "one of a kind" ThinkPads!!!

Trains in Tokyo are quite comfortable if you avoid rush hours.
So get up learlier/later in the morning, and avoid the last trains
around midnight.

I'll definitely be cruising through Aki-Habara (tech. district) from time to time so if I see anything cool thats TP-related, or just plain cool, rest assured I'll be taking photos and I'll be glad to post them too
