Sticker-less (pictures attached)

Today I decided to remove the Pentium M and Windows XP sticker from the palm rest. Looks much cleaner, plus they were started to wear/peel off.

I like that; the table, vases, and flowers really set it off eloquently as well...Now see, this is the image the Thinkpad is good at and was *meant* for; it is also why they never show most Dells in such settings (they usually pick a neutral background with laughing/smiling people) because they would look out of place.

This actually reminds me somewhat of an old (1995?) magazine ad I once saw for a 755CD that had the computer running on a table in a traditional style kitchen. I found it on eBay.

i would like to remove mine but i'm afraid that removing it will leave a 'scar'...

It won't - I removed all but the Pentium sticker from my old Dell a year or so ago (the laptop is about 6 years old) and you'd never know that there was a "Designed for Windows" sticker and a Dell one on there. You might need to use something to pick up any sticky residue, but I can't imagine there'd be any visible reminder.

I second the props re the background...that's a very nice looking table top

Maybe a razor blade will help...I can't exactly remember how I got mine off (since mine weren't so securely stuck on), so ThinkPad will be able to tell you more than I can, probably.

To remove the sticker, I turned the computer off. Took a hair dryer and heated up the sticker, but in intervals. As the adhesive heats up, start to slowly peel off an edge with your finger till it comes off (you will feel the sticker almost sliding off) with periodic heating to keep the adhesive warm. Once the sticker is off, heat as needed to remove any adhesive residue from the palm rest and you are good to go. Once the residue is gone I used a damp cloth as a finishing touch.

Do not use a razor or any such objects, your nail/finger should do the job without harm or scratches.

Ah yes, of course! I remember reading that the hair dryer method is useful for removing pickguards from acoustic guitars as well.

actually, my stickers are off.. but there's still the silver backing left on the laptop.....

A minute under the hair dryer will fix that. The key is to heat up the adhesive, which bonds it together in a group yet make it less adhesive. So the whole thing should come out in one piece.

guess i can't remove it now... i dun haf a hair dryer over here in the UK...

will bring it back to Singapore during my summer holidays to remove it then...

as to the mirror backing being left on the palmrest- my girlfriend finds it useful for doing her makeup.
