Nice collection. It's nice to see I'm not the only one here who collects (and still uses) vintage machines.

Awesome pics of those two you have there, especially of the 701c. 8)

I have and still use one myself, but I see you have a blue trackpoint on it. :)

Not everybody can find and purchase the original red trackpoints for the legacy Thinkpads. There are 3rd party trackpoint caps available that are cheaper and, usually, function just as well. It also can be considered as a customization feature for most Thinkpad owners.

I seem to have an endless supply of grey and blue Dell caps (every time I run out, I somehow stumble onto another bag of them) and they work fine. Unfortunately, they wear out much faster than the genuine IBM caps which is why I try to keep a few of those around too.

Actually, I was thinking the blue trackpoint cap looked kinda cool.

I would like to have a pair of those blue trackpoints. :D

My trackpoint on my T30 is still brand new because i seldom use the trackpoint. I used the "real" USB mouse because silly me don't know how to control the trackpoint cursor and it always [censored] me off.

It reminds me....at that time, owning a desktop or a notebook was a luxurious thing. Its quite well-off if you have a 386 or 486 at home.

Especially given the initial cost of machines like the 701c and the 800 Series at the time. Makes today's Thinkpad prices look like a great bargain in comparison. :)

The prices are still locked at pretty much the same Desktop:Laptop ratio though...

Desktops can be bought for as little as $280 these days, Where as the cheapest notebook will still cost about double (Unless it is a REALLY crap one *Cough* Advent*)

I actually usually use Slow computers for work, as if I get given a more powerful toy I tend to do nothing on them apart from edit videos and play OutRun 2.
