T60 @ home - pics

#1 Post by gator » Thu Nov 16, 2006 5:35 am

I shot some pics of my lovely T60 - been wanting to do this ever since I got my T60 in end August, but found the time (and a camera) only now. :)

T60 long shot - that is my 12 string Ibanez in the far left!

I typically use my laptop at two notches above the minimum brightness setting. At nights, I reduce it to min. brighness when my roommate goes to sleep. My eyes start watering after 5-10 mins at higher brightness levels, and this is one reason why I hate insanely bright glossy screens. Color is vibrant and all that arguement is fine, but what use is a display if you cant look at it for more than 20 mins?

I noticed that the screen looks fantastic in my normal usage settings, but I can see that the entire screen is lit under max. setting (obviously). I don't think I have any light leakage problems, but can some thinkpad monitor experts have a look at these pics and confirm this? :D :D :D

Looks like you have a pretty clean setup there, nice Ibanez too. :D

From the shots you posted, it doesn't really look like you have any significant backlight leakage problems. :)

Thanks Christopher! That Ibanez was an amazingly cheap purchase from someone here who was in a hurry to leave :D It has a great tone.

How is the "Thinkpad for Dummies" effort getting along?

It is coming along well, I have the structure for most of it down although I still need to gather and sort more information from the forum archives. I was working on a draft of a biophysics paper, so the gathering and sorting of information went slow for awhile. :)

gator, I like the Ibanez, i'm a guitar guy too. My dad used to have a Yamaha 12 string years ago but it got ripped off, 12 strings are so unique sounding.

Awesome, Kyocera! How long have you been playing?

I took up guitar about 3 years ago, when my madness for music went out of bounds and I decided to learn to play. I started with a 6-string nylon string yamaha (still have it - a wonderfully mellow sounding guitar). I got this Ibanez for a literally throw away price when one of the PhD students here graduated and had to leave in a hurry. 12 strings indeed have a fantastic sound! I don't know how to play lead on it though.

I read one old post on the forum where someone had suggested the name 'The Trackpoints' for a band. I smiled when I saw the post and somehow remembered it now :)
