Hi guys (& girls ?)
I found a nice Windows theme. It is all in black, which matches the color of your thinkpad

that's cool, isn't the same as the black royal theme that gator posted a while back or is it something a bit newer. Have you tried it yet, from reading some of the post's there are some serious sounding issues.

Yes i installed it 5 minutes ago, it looks just like the screenshots
I didn't notice any issues so far (LOL i just installed it 5 minutes ago) but it looks nice.

Everything works fine except my taskbar is the gray classic one. Don't see the newer one.

I'm not sure, does this require Luna? Or will it work on the classic interface as well?

Does this require a patched uxtheme.dll file?

Doesn't look quite as neat IMHO as the Royale Noir (the black Royale)...I'm not too taken by that particular font in the title bar, although I know that'd be changeable. Does it change the look of the Start menu, frankiepankie?

Royale Noir was close to what a TP theme should be, but not quite. If this isn't as good as that I probably won't keep it, but I'll give it a shot.

You know, the matte black looks better with the ThinkPad's exterior, but I really like a little shininess in my GUI.

gator: The installer patches your uxtheme.dll automatically i think. Mine was already patched so i don't know.
qviri: If you use the classic Windows theme, then you don't have this nice theme. Your bootupscreen and "Welcome" screen, and shutdown menu are changed though.
KristianJ: Yes it does

I've tried this - version 2 which is referenced at the bottom of the page. It does also change the start menu to a variation on the MS Classic theme, but I think, overall, I prefer Royale Noir.

Grrr, I noticed it changed the System Properties manufacturer info & logo. Is that that backed up anywhere? I want my Lenovo info back.

System restore.

Nada. The OEMINFO was restored, but not the logo. If that didn't work, then is it gone for good?
By the way, this is a "whew" moment, since when I posted I had meant the VAIO I own, not the T61. The
SONY logo is gone, and it would seem it was entirely overwritten, not backed up in an XPize folder. (This was the newer V.2 Beta, so I guess this is a remaining bug)
This just reaffirms why I'm testing stuff like this on the VAIO first.

This is exctly why I never use themes that patch the uxtheme.dll file.

1. have you tried to setup your bios by default config.??? I fix many issues doing it specially when some system changes happened after i add new software or remove software maybe this is related with the logo disappeareance? I don't know. I don't recommend to have the sys. restore enabled because if you have virus then it will restore itself even after you AV software kill it so, this will add security.
Please correct me if I'm wrong about bios setup.
2. have you tried when in bios splash screen you pressed F8 to choose to load windows to the last time it was working properly?? this also works good it saved from me a few serious issues specially when GPU problems happened to me.

I was referring to the SONY oemlogo gif that appears when you show system properties. It was overwritten with an xPize one, and not backed up.
does anyone have a link to the vista version of darkside?
