I got a new Z61t today, and once I've got all of my software installed, vista tweaked, and files copied, it will be replacing my T43. I took a few pictures of the two machines making nice.

Let me know if there are any particular pictures you'd like to see!

First congrats with the new Thinkpad , why did you choose a Z61t instead of lets say T61 , was it the portablity of Z61t or the wide screen.

I don't know what was the reasoning of sparta.rising, but here are some reasons to go for a Z61t over a T61 that I can think of:

Compared to a 14" wide T61, the Z61t:

* Is slightly lighter
* Has slightly smaller footprint
* Optional titanium lid (some like it for sturdiness, some for the looks)
* Looks prettier (a bigger issue for some that one would expect) :D
* Has S-video
* Has better arranged USB ports
* Can be had for cheaper (yes, that is also a factor) ;)

Of course, there are equally as many reasons to go for a T61 over a Z61t, but for a list of them you will have to ask someone who actually got a T61 over a Z61t. Not me! :)

Just an FYI:

A Z61 series is actually equivalent (generation-wise) to a T60, not a T61. The Z60 series was equivalent to the T43.

The Z61t spanned the life of the T60 and T61 as you can see by the C2D processor.

I chose it because I got a good deal on it on craigslist :-)
It is also prettier.

Some late T60s also had C2Ds. comptiger5000 is right about the Z61t being the complete widescreen equivalent of the 14" T60 (minus, of course, the option to have dedicated graphics). Which is another reason why I like it. 945PM/ICH7M seems to be somewhat nicer than 965PM/ICH8M as far as stability goes. Too bad for the dreaded 3GB memory limit, if you happen to need more...[/b]
