On what model is this one based? X61? I like the big blue enter and the wallpaper and also the fact that it doesn´t have the thick bezel

Hi again, Ive added a few more pics. If you follow the original link and then "view all".
When I was looking for one the pictures were a bit thin on the ground other than the stock photos.

Does it run hotter than a standard X61? There doesn't look as there's enough clearance between the leather and the base to allow enough cooling.

Not sure if it runs hotter, it does pump some heat out under strain though.
If the truth be known it seems exactly like my X31 for the kind of tasks I use it for. Anything that requires any grunt is left to the desktop. Also with the X31 being a XP machine it feels just as fast. The "ultrabrite" display may be a little brighter.
You also have to be careful with its centre of gravity compared to the X31 which has its battery at the front. Strange as it might sound, but its caught me out twice and slid off the desk when Im least expecting it.

103 processes from a fresh vista install

but I suppose thats a whole new thread.

I absolutely love the leather casing on those! If I could figure out a way to fasten the case to the ThinkPad, I'd have made one.

Since I have an X61s, out of curiosity I looked up the purchase price (from Lenovo) of just the leather body;
FRU LEATHER BODY ASM - 42X4404 - $1,472.60

I bought it from here
http://store.scc.com/uk/product/1/LNVSU ... 1_TFT.html
they have an ebay site too, where returns and refurbs are sold. some of the stuff on there is well worth the money. They havent been using ebay that long so I think that most people are a bit dubious about some of their stuff. as it happens though they are a massive place with tons of stock. ive had a few real bargains from there and everything has been brand new looking. you need to know what you are looking at though because they get a few listings wrong.
The reserve edition was un-boxed, all paperwork etc intact all bits there except external dvd, still under warranty till 2010,no o/s installed £375(i must admit for the spec of the thing thats all i think its worth- id be gutted at rrp)

Had a crack develop in the case by my escape key, and a small chip where the leather case clicks onto the base. its been there for ages now so I thought Id try out the old 4hr fix hotline. problem was id left the number at home. after 10 minutes googling and 3 phone calls to the regular service line I decided to go and get the number.
first hour or so- no response. i assumed the hotline was off, but then at about 10 am the phone answered. after a few serial numbers and address details it was arranged for an engineer to come out that day.
The parts came first by DHL at about 1.15 then the engineer arrived about half hour later.
the crack by the escape key was a 5 minute fix, however the crack underneath meant the entire thing had to be dismantled. had to chuckle when the guy was going to do it wearing surgical gloves, apparently under instructions to do so.
By about 3.30 I heard the familiar startup noise and that was it all fixed.
looking at the case Id say it was made of titanium like the old x31's etc, price estimate? in the hundreds id say. The engineer that was sent out costs between 3-£400 per hour for non warranty fixes.
All in all a pleasant taste of how the other half live. if only i was loaded everything i own would have the same level of service.
I hate rich people, or am I confusing envy with hate.

Very cool machine you have .. Ahh the X31 had one of those very nice machine with the extra battery you could get more
than 7 hours of runtime. I miss it.
