"thinkpads are great to run OSX, you get the quality hardware of a thinkpad and you don't have to be seen outside with a MAC"

Hehe, I thought of that while browsing the XKCD forums and thought, hey I should put that in my AIM profile.

Hi folks!
I'm a first time Thinkpad owner, got my Z61m last summer and I'm quite happy with it. At least now, after I did a cleansweep and reinstalled XP (without most of the redundant ibm/lenovo software) - under guidance of some very usefull threads in this forum.
Being a (sometimes bored) electronic technician, I have allready completely dis- and reassembled my Z61m and got some interesting ideas out of that endevour. I'll share them later on.
For now, here's my desktop:

I like a clean desktop - the quick launch tray does for me or Vista's search functionality.

Old OPENSTEP EUI theme that I can't seem to move away from
and Winstep Xtreme (NextStart, WorkShelf, Nexus).
The shelf at the bottom autohides so normally it's not visible.
Maximized apps fit within a a reserved area so they don't cover
the modules on the left, the dock/wharf on the right, or the task
icons at the top.
Sysinternal's BGInfo provides the data over the wallpaper.

Active wallpaper that shows the real time around the world and where it is daylight in the world.
My screen savers that I switch up every once in a while:
I have all the IBM screen savers, but these are my favorite.

Hello,
Your Active desktop is really nice.
I wanted to make it more personal, but I'm not the Master of JavaScript, so, I asked help on my forum.
And I got this :
http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=OG0A3ZBA
http://omploader.org/vZW1l
(If you know a better file server than MegaUpload, let me know, I'll upload again).
You don't really see it on the capture, but there is the daylight thingy, which moves all day long. The hours change in realtime, too.
W.
EDIT : Update with a new link !

(Thx to Tyler)

Warmachine,
That looks great! I like it a lot.
I originally got the wallpaper from this site:
http://axofiber.org.ru/projects/world.t ... per.en.htm
There they have a few more wallpapers that you can download and put into your world.time folder.

I've only owned this ThinkPad, my first, for less than three months judging from the timestamp above, and already I understand why people like them so much. Very well-designed and executed, and a pleasure to use.
Clean install of Vista Ultimate 64-bit running XP Pro 32-bit as a virtual PC. Very convenient setup for my purposes.

The desktop on my new A31p. I like to keep my workspace pretty clean. The single bar is actually a leftover from the X31's limited vertical resolution, but I find it to be enough.
The OS is Ubuntu 7.10. A friend of mine found this wallpaper on InterfaceLIFT. It's an important reminder...
