Pictures of my Lenovo and Thinkpad mice

#1 Post by arlab » Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:21 am

Just bought a Lenovo Wireless Laser Mouse - Red [Model: 51J0198] and, since there aren't many pictures of it in the web, I've decided to take a few (along with my other two mice).

ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse [Model: 41U5008] on the right (next to the ruler), Lenovo Wireless Laser Mouse - Red [Model: 51J0198] on the centre (the USB receiver belongs to this mouse) and the ThinkPad Travel Mouse [Model: 31P7410] on the left.

Let's see what's under the hood :P:

The Lenovo Wireless Laser Mouse - Red [Model: 51J0198] uses one AA battery (and has a compartment to store the USB receiver), while the ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse [Model: 41U5008] uses two AA batteries (this makes this mouse a bit heavy to carry around). The ThinkPad Travel Mouse [Model: 31P7410] is a corded mouse, so it doesn't need batteries (it is also the most lightweight of them all).

Here are some pictures of the USB receiver (it doesn't stick out that much, but it also isn't a perfect tight - there's a distance of ~2mm between the computer and the black part of the receiver):

I must say I'm disappointed with the Lenovo Wireless Laser Mouse - Red [Model: 51J0198]. You have to apply too much pressure to click the buttons (when comparing to the other two). It's really noticeable... I still don't know if I'll keep it. :(
Anyway,that's it.

Disappointing. I like that best next to the BT one, even better, if it had the TP logo instead of the lenovo one. One battery, plus storage for the receiver are great selling points. If they only made it BT, added the TP logo and allowed it to charge a Ni-Mh battery on board, it would the the ultimate choice.

The first time I let the Lenovo Wireless Laser Mouse fell, one of the mouse buttons cracked and the light indicator broke (the mouse is still functioning, though).
Definitely, not tank-built like the ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse.

But the latter also seems to have problems. Both my ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse started malfunctioning after 5/6 months. What a disappointment.
