14 inch showdown - T42 Z60t T61

#1 Post by sparta.rising » Wed Sep 23, 2009 2:24 pm

I took these for a customer, but I thought I'd share them with you all to compare form factors.

From left to right are the 14 inch models of a T42p, Z60t, T61

Sorry I didnt have a standard resolution T60 or a T400 to add in there. The Z61t is cosmetically identical to the Z60t.

Hmm, I wonder how come I missed this thread earlier. Nice pics! :D

The Z60t is so cute. You are right that it is cosmetically identical to a Z61t, with one exception - the LCD bezel. Z60t (and some Z61t's as well) had 5:3 1280x768 screens, which are shorter than the 8:5 1280x800/1440x900 screens on the typical Z61t (and T61).

With the Z61t, Lenovo managed to do something very cool - they fit the taller screen in the same form factor, as a result the LCD bezel above the screen is very thin, which makes for very efficient space utilization. You have a slightly bigger and higher-resolution screen in the same size (and it looks like they somehow even managed to make the machine lighter, even though I haven't actually taken any measurements of Z60t vs Z61t).

All in all, the 14" Z widescreens featured some very good and efficient design, which unfortunately disappeared when the series was discontinued. :( They are among my favorite Lenovo laptops. :)

For a T60 standard / Z61t / T61 comparison, I posted a thread a while ago, which is probably not too far down in this forum. The T400 is cosmetically just like a T61, with some very slight differences (I actually made a picture thread showing these difference as well).

Yeah deleted them from my photobucket account and don't have the originals.
