I didn't realize how much bigger and thicker the 15" T42 is compared to 14".

I want an X...

I never realized there are different kinds of keyboards until now. Interesting.

Mine has a bigger enter key, spreading accross two rows of letter keys. The last key in the top row is replaced with the enter key and one more key is added in the secons row.
Wonder why. The number of keys is the same.

Depends on the language the machine is setup for and on which country it's sold in.

Yeah, the 15" is a behemoth. Over 90% of the extra weight over the 14" is in the display, of course.

Where can I find that wallpaper they're using on those thinkpads?

I have noticed that in the 14" T42, you have the time displayed at the top. Can you tell me whether this feature is included in some IBM wallpaper, or did you use some other software?

If you did, I would appreciate a link...

Those pictures are great. The X40 looks so small. When the ThinkPad's are lying on the bed, it looks like they're looking up at the sky. I think that those ThinkPad's look so adorable together!

Yeah, but it also doesn't show all of the T42's because the X40 is blocking them.

I love these silly threads. I kind of want an X40 to complement my T42p - it would be quite nice to have a small, light, long-battery-life ultraportable on the plane.

I love this family! And i am going to buy a X40 next weeks.. just for having 2 sweet TPs

I wish that I had all of the ThinkPad models(I want to do that when I get older, right now I'm 14). I just love ThinkPad's!
I also want to see a T and X in real life(I have seen pictures of the actual products but I want to see them in real life). I have seen a R, A and G in real life.

I've seen the T30's and T40's in the flesh since I know people who have them. The T40 is noticably thinner than the T30. The T30 looks alot like the R40, they have almost the same footprint and the R40 is slightly thicker than a T30.

Does the 15" thinkpad pictured above have the flexview screen or just the regular 15" screen? The 15" seems a little washed out.

THe 15" is the flexview and it has much better viewing angle. I have both 14" non flex and the 15" flexview. The viewing angle defference is quite a lot. As you can see in the picture the as viewing angle increases the 14' creates dark shadow like effects whereas the 15" does not.

I don't think it is washed out but it looks too bright that's all. Just need to turn down the brightness a little

The 15" doesn't need to be turned down. Rather, since the 15" is brighter than the 14" it merely *looks* washed out because of the particular exposure used by the camera. If you take a picture of a bright screen and a dark screen, only one of them will look right. They'll rarely both look right because of the limited dynamic range of the camera.

Is the 14.1 inch screen running the SXGA+ resolution?

I don't see much of a thickness difference between the 14" and the 15"...between the X and T series though, its large.

Yes I think the 14 inch is running SXGA+

hmm, me neither. It looks like the 15" just reaches deeper, so there's no space between the screen and bottom part.
The 15" palmrest is more comfortable than the 14" (T40 model) imo, and it think it's a pity it was not possible to fit the same rest onto the 14".

As someone who uses both, I seriously think the 14" is MUCH smaller than the 15" in every dimension (but yes, it's hard to tell the difference in the pictures above - but believe me, it's there). It's one of those things that is very hard to appreciate without a few days of actual use/lugging around.

I agree 100%, not sure what the difference in footprint is for the 14" t30 and 14" t42 but I now use my t30 exclusively for "lugging around". My 15" t42 seems huge in comparison. Still love it though.

The X40 looks so pretty. I like how the keyboard and palmrest uses all available estate, compared to the T-series with borders all around. Except for the ackward-looking/obstructing battery, it's perfect.
Wish I could have one as well.

Please get rid of the stickers, it ruins the professional black look of The Thinkpads

Now I really really really want an X40. That is a great looking computer with a very nice looking display! I hope the price starts to drop on them now that the X60s are out.
