Nice machine. I've had two R series Thinkpads. Both have been excellent.

Congrats, you've succeeded in making my R40 (and I) jealous, not an easy task. :P Nice machine. I LOVE the Rxx series thinkpads.

I have been looking into buying an R61 on ebay. Any tips for me, and how much did you pay for it?

Post here in the marketplace forum that you're looking for a machine and your budget. While you might pay a bit more here than ebay or CL, the people here tend to be much more honest about what they're selling than ebay, where it's everyone for themselves. That has a lot of value, especially on a used notebook. I would also advise you to stay away from the R61 with tne nvidia gpus, even if the price is very attractive. Good Luck.

It remains a beautiful model. In hindsight, I occasionally wonder if I chose right with my T compared to the R version. I like the speaker placement for one. I would also have had more "play" with my budget had I given the R more thought.

Ah well, if only all my tough decisions were which ThinkPads to get, rather than whether I can afford any. ;)

I picked one up recently for $5 at a Goodwill. It's a nice backup for the PC bag, but I like bluetooth mice better. They need no USB port (if you have internal BT), and this MS one has a big dongle (Nice that it tucks in, though)

That's sweet! I love my R61. It looks like that but with a few minor battle scars.
