I purchased my T61P in January of 2008. It has been a tank of a computer and still works, and functions as new. I've left it outside overnight in below freezing temperatures and used it in 10 different countries. It has been on 4 international flights. There is a small amount of play in the hinges, some exterior markings, and keyboard shine all which give it an authentic look that only a ThinkPad can have. It has had some issues and I'm glad I purchased a 3 year accidental warranty.

First: The factory motherboard needed to be replaced because there was a common issue with BSOD's when the GPU bus was under full load during gaming and CAD work.

Second: I had yet another motherboard put in when I spilled an alcoholic beverage all over the keyboard.

Third: Yet again, another motherboard replacement when I got the famous two beeps at start-up. Not only that - they replaced the entire bottom half of the laptop, and palm rest - for FREE out of warranty. I didn't notice any physical damage to it; however, for all I know one of the technicians did something.

I think, retail - that means this is a $6000 laptop LOL. All repairs were done in a timely fashion and free of charge no questions asked.

I absolutely adore the keyboard (NMB), build quality, keyboard light, and the feel of the laptop in general. I plan on putting a SSD in it to increase the performance. The 100gb factory one works fine - but after nearly 4 years, 6 windows installations, and heavy use I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Anyway.......

I always tell my frieends "may it serve you well" whenever they get new hardware. Looks like yours certainly has.
