Splitting the Marketplace
Splitting the Marketplace
Just a suggestion; I'm not sure if this has been suggested / discussed before.
It's out of the question that the majority of the forum members are US based. What if the Marketplace was split into a "US" and an "Everywhere else" section? I'm not saying to ban or forbid transactions across the pond (I've myself benefited from such a case), I am only saying to make it easier to find something relevant for buyers and sellers.
If my suggestion is crazy and no one wants to consider it, then at least there could be an extra rule to make the location of the item(s) in the post title obligatory (I know some people do write the country down, but not everyone).
Thanks for taking the time to consider this.

Re: Splitting the Marketplace
My understanding of the forum rules is that one is obligated to provide their own location when registering. While there's a couple of old-time members (who rarely sell anything BTW) without one in their profile, the vast majority obeys this rule...and I'd presume that if a member from Canada was selling an item located in France, they would make a note of it in the posting, for shipping cost calculations purposes alone...ilakast wrote:

Re: Splitting the Marketplace
That's true; but one needs to click on the post title to read the location. Wasting time and bandwidth

Re: Splitting the Marketplace
That would be more work for the mod and admin ensuring everyone posts in the right section. I'd leave it as is. It's hard enough asking people to list their country location upon sign up.

And, as many have predicted, the Marketplace Division Bill was DOA in the TPF Senate...JaneL wrote: I vote no...
