I have an A31p, and before the change, I could simply browse the forum for threads related to my model or other things related to IBM/Lenovo's desktop replacement models. Now there's lots of junk (to me) about T2x and T3x models. For those that are interested in T2x and/or T3x issues, there's a bunch of junk (to them) about A/R/G models....

What was the reasoning behind lumping the T2x and T3x threads with the A/R/G forum??

I second fongj's opinion
As a longtime reader of Bill's forums, I second fongj's opinion. One subforum per series (A, T, R, X, G) is MUCH more easier to browse, also because the USES of the different families are pretty different. It is also true, although to a minor extent, for the "legacy" models, which were previously subdivided (3xx, 5xx, 7xx) before the great naming scheme change to G/R/A/T/I/S/X...

Cheer up - we could just have one big forum that includes all the messages for the T4x series!fongj wrote:What was the reasoning behind lumping the T2x and T3x threads with the A/R/G forum?? :(

The messages for the T2x and T3x were separated from the T4x discussions due to the volume. Combining them with the ARG series was a logical step.

Re: Don't like!! - A/R/G forum combined with T2x and T3x
Meaning the A/R/G forum was low volume, and so were the T2x and T3x threads, thus they should be put together?nonny wrote:Cheer up - we could just have one big forum that includes all the messages for the T4x series!fongj wrote:What was the reasoning behind lumping the T2x and T3x threads with the A/R/G forum??![]()

Logical to me would to make a T2x and T3x forum, because there are very little, if anything, in common between the discussions/threads about the A/R/G Thinkpads and the discussions/threads about the T2x and T3x. The only thing I can think of is the fact that the A-series and T2x and T3x are older models; the R-series and G-series are still current, though!
Feels like the T4x Thinkpads get special treatment because they are more popular, and everyone else just gets scraps, or lumped together in one forum on the side.... Could we do a poll in the new A/R/G/T2x/T3x forum to see what would best serve the needs of the users?
Edit:
wait... "could"? That is what we currently have... True, the T4x's are a slight majority, and have very high traffic/volume discussions, but does that mean everybody else can't have a forum where that can effectively/efficiently discuss their issues?nonny wrote: Cheer up - we could just have one big forum that includes all the messages for the T4x series!
I understand the A/R/G forum was low volume: I used to check only every couple of days to catch up with the handful of updates/activity. Now, though, with the T2x and T3x threads mixed in, I don't even want to check at all because I'll have examine every subject line in the new combined forum, of three times the traffic, and take much more time to see whether it is A/R/G-related or a T2x/T3x issue, in addition to what the actual subject is about.
(Sorry if I sound argumentative, it is not intended).

The T4x gets special treatment because it generates the most volume.fongj wrote:Feels like the T4x Thinkpads get special treatment because they are more popular, and everyone else just gets scraps, or lumped together in one forum on the side.... You can do a poll, and Bill might act on it. I won't because looking at the total volume of messages in the A/R/G/T2x/T3x forum, you're not exactly getting over-whelmed from either camp.

look..
the reasoning is the T20/T30 belong with the A, R and G series because those T's belong more with the A series than the T4x series..
also, i really do not want to have endless confrences, each with only a few posts and little traffic..
breaking the T forum into two differerent T confrences starts us on a long slide into the chaos of too many confrences..
one for each thinkpad model..
it would never end..
thus the decision to move to the ARG confrence..
if anyone has a better suggestion which meets the aforementioned criteria, feel free to speak up..
