Thought it might be a good place to start a list of resources/tips/utilities to help diagnose software/hardware/networking issues. It's good to have a list to draw from when setting up a machine, links to drivers or free utlities ex.AVG and Adware. Hardware and disk diagnostic utlities and helpfull sites to assist in troubleshooting. What do you think?

I have actually been thinking of something very similar as well for awhile now; but I think it would work better in the Thinkpad Utility Forum or the Thinkpad General Forum...Suggestions, Comments?

Seems like a good choice, there is a lot of resources out there.

IMO, they would be off-topic in the TP General forum.

I'm not adverse to collecting such information in one place, but I have a question. Isn't what's being suggested what happens if one reads the FAQ ("Try it; you'll like it!") or does a search?

T2x and T30 issues are a good example. In part because of my suggestion, the T2x and T30's have bounced around in the past couple of months. Now there are T2x T30 threads (see http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=20210 for example) which have been previously addressed by threads to be found in the T4x and R, A, G conferences.

An "Ultimate Resource Thread" might be useful if people actually used it. But so are the FAQ and "search".

In reality it you start googling you can find whatever, so maybe it's best to leave well enough......
