Separate Positive Feedback for Fair Traders forum?

This is probably a case of being too late (and impossible to do now that the cat's out of the bag), but wouldn't the Positive Feedback for Fair Trader thread under the Marketplace forum be more useful as a forum? The idea being that a separate thread is "assigned" to each username. Hierarchy is like this:

Marketplace Fair Trader Forum - Members Only
  • username1 <--thread
    • entry 1 <--post
      entry 2 <--post
    username2
    • entry 1
Each "username" thread to be started by that person, allowing for that person to "opt-in" for the feedback process. Of course, this would still mean that the person leaving feedback needs to search the forum to see if the other user has already started his/her thread. I believe that it would be possible using the current search functions (username to search for goes into "Search for keywords" AND "Search for Author" fields and search restricted to the new forum).

This way all of the feedback for a particular username is in one place (thread) and not spread out among six pages of posts as it exists in the current Fair Trader thread.

Maybe the idea can be adapted for future use if/when a subject comes up relating to a topic that needs a logical separation by username.

That is an interesting idea....though, I'm not sure if it is too late.

I guess Brent should almost have his own conference, though.

Originally I thought people were going to keep their comments in their own post in that thread instedad of spreading them out. I put all the users I have dealt with and what the transaction was in my post. That seemed easier to keep track of. Now they are all over the place in that thread, except for those that did follow that format. I think it will be a lot of work to try and reconfigure it now. There is a way to split off posts to new threads but not sure if that will help create what you are looking to do. fMay have to just start over.

I did/do the same thing as Kyocera. I just keep editing the same post, which is how I thought we were going to be doing it as well....but the trend fell with a lot of single users that were making one time purchases.

So maybe there could be a sticky at the top of it, explaining HOW to complete it.

My only concern would be people not searching to make sure that there isn't already a thread for member XYZ, before creating a new one. As a Mod, we can split threads into two different threads, but we cannot take two threads and attach them together....not sure if the admins can, or not.

Of course, using the search button with the current format would help too.

Does anyone else think that this could make for larger forum storage having individual posts for each users, instead of one buyer/seller re-editing their own thread to include each new person that they have dealth with? I'd like to keep in mind the costs associated with the amount of storage space that the forum uses.

EDIT: As a mod, I could always go through and copy and paste portions of a post by a member into a previous post made by that same user, then delete the latest post, making things a little tidier...eliminating the unnecessary posts.

Realistically, I can see most users here bothering to do that very often.

Also we need to keep in mind that the Marketplace isn't eBay and isn't equipped (in a software sense) to provide the sort of services that eBay provides.

Cheers,
