New banner at top of forum too wide

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Wed Apr 11, 2007 5:29 am

The new title looks very colourful, but the new font size was chosen too large.
On my 1024x768 screen I have to scroll right to see the rest.
Also the font for "Bill Morrow's ThinkPads.com Open Forum" etc. looks rather fuzzy, and should perhaps be replaced by Verdana or Arial for better legibility.
I appreciate the good intentions though!

Yeah, I noticed that too - maybe it's time for me to find something with SXGA+... :)

It fits perfectly on my WS T60 (1680x1050) but "realblackstuff" is right to point out it being large for smaller versions.

But this is in preliminary stages, I'm sure Bill is on to it.

Also, the colors tell me perhaps Bill prefers google too. :)

Well, what website gives a widescreen resolution problems? This clearly only affects 1024x768 and lower resolutions. I am experiencing this as well.

Why jock Google's style though?

I use 1024x768 (which I choose and which I like), and I also work in a window (never, ever, ever full screen - which I choose and which I like), and I have to scroll as well.

Bill Morrow and some of the Moderators worked together to make adjustments a short while back (Thank you for this) and I am sure they will again.

Yea, even in full screen it still scrolls about half an inch. I'm sure the powers that be see the issue and just didn't have a chance to fix it.

No one's complaining! :)

Perhaps it was fixed tonight, I am using 1024 and it fits fine for me. The letters are very rough looking, however. (Crank up the AA :D )

Thank you to whomever for fixing the width problem.
But the font for the "Bill Morrows' ThinkPads.com..." could still do with a better letter type. Looks like a squeezed-in 'Times New Roman'.

My understanding is that work will be progressing on and off in the banner area. The scrolling issue is being looked at as I know that it can be a bother to some people. I can't stand it when I have to horizontally scroll on my SXGA+ full screen browser so I understand the pain.

Please stay tuned and be patient while all of the kinks are worked out...

Charlie Chaplin is good, too bad he never lived that long to see thinkpads in action but he can now on his white table with a battery powered thinkpad, possibly a T60.

WOW!! Bill, the new look as of this time is amazing. The "Thinkpads.com" banner looks less like google now.

Thanks guys, apparently I read half of "Breakfast for champions" in my teens but did not know or perhaps remember that Kurt Vonnegut wrote it. Will take it up again sometime.
