No 570/570E Offical Upgrade page?

#1 Post by losmeme » Sun May 06, 2007 7:47 am

So I am all over the 600/770/570 forum, and notice upgrade pages for the 600 and 770, but not the 570 series.

Would this be because the 570 is such a close relative to the 600 in terms of chipsets, etc?

I LOVE my 570s, simply for their lightweight and easy portability. I have tried to be as obsessive with the 600 series as all my other TPs, but they are tanks! (Part of their allure, agreed, but difficult to lug around)

Anyone have an interest in starting an Offical 570 upgrade page in the forum?

This is a DIY venue. If you want an Official 570 upgrade thread, all you need to do is start one with your experiences, and ask others to contribute just as the author for the 600 and 770 ones did. If there's sufficient interest, we can make it a sticky. Enjoy! ;-)

The biggest reason that you don't see a 570/570E upgrade thread, is because the 600/770's have removeable CPUS, hence the reason of the upgrade threads. Upgrading the CPUs is a lot harder, because it isn't documented by IBM....Thinkpad users found a way to upgrade their 600/770's beyond IBM's threshhold. The CPU in the 570/570E is soldered to the system board, therefore the only upgrades are standard hard drive, ram, etc.
