Firefox 3 log in problem

I just upgraded to 3 last night and can't log in for messages or profile, thought it does seem to accept my log-in for the forums.

I type the name and pw and enter, it checks something and comes right back to the same screen.

I really have not fully investigated this yet, but I was able to sign in through IE with no problem.

I have a couple of ad and flash blocking add-ons which I disabled for thinkpads. com.

Anyone else getting this?

Thanks,
Steve

Well I can't figure it out. I couldn't log in to answer you, so I disabled all add-ons (I have about 6) and restarted. No luck.

So I disabled the password manager. Still no luck.

When I enter my ID and password, it simply goes back to the same page as if i never hit "go".

I copied the address after doing this to IE6 and it went right into my messages (where I was logging in).

So, for me, the variable is absolutely FF3, not the Add-ones, not the pc, not my pw (duh).

My other pc with FF 2x works fine at this site. This pc with IE6 works fine. But with not FF3.

If I find another site that has this same problem, or figure anything out, I'll post it here for others.

It's a bug in FF3, users on phpbb 2.x.x and other forums are also complaining about this issue online:

Just Google you'll find numerous topics on this problem, I'm not a FF user by the way.

I haven't seen this problem on this forum or others I logon to. I'm running FF3, but on Linux if that matters.

I suspose this doesn't help much, but I am currently using the openSUSE Live CD that includes Firefox 3.0 beta 5. Logged in here no problem with that version of Firefox. Can go to messages or profile just fine.

Just as a guess, maybe the upgrade is the problem. Why don't you save your profile in a different folder, uninstall Firefox, then delete your Firefox folders and profile folder (not the one you just saved). Now reinstall Firefox and see if you have the same login problem.

I don't use Firefox much, but I know that old profiles sometimes don't work properly with upgrades (generally speaking).

Very good. Thanks for the confirmation. Shame on me for not googling it, but since it was limited to this site...

As for using Linux or Vista or reverting to FF2, thanks for the suggestion but I'm fine with XP and going to stay with FF3 if there are no more serious bugs apart from login problems with one site.

I'll just get that IE plug in for FF until it gets sorted out. We have a work-around !
I upgraded to Firefox 3 this morning and now can't log onto my phpBB2.0.23 forum using Firefox. It accepts my username and password, puts me onto the list of those logged on, but doesn't actually let me in.

I have an add-on that allows me to view a site in an IE tab, and if I do this there's no problem, so thankfully I'm not completely shut out.

It doesn't seem to be a cookie issue as I have them allowed for all sites at the moment, and I haven't had a problem with any other site, including another phpBB2 site.

FYI, FireFox 3.01 is now out. After clearing all cookies, history, etc. the password/login info for the forum seems to be sticking.

Others should test and report back, too. Maybe it's fixed.
