Renaming the "Linux" Forum to "UNIX"
Since the Linux forum talks about BSD in it's description, I believe it would make more sense to call it "UNIX" instead of "Linux." Linux is a UNIX clone.
Model: Lenovo ThinkPad T400
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26 GHz, 1067 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 Cache)
RAM: 4 GB PC-8500 (1067 MHz, Dual-channel)
HDD: 500 GB, 54000 RPM
Audio: Conexant CX20561 (192 kHz, 24-bit)
Video: Intel GMA 4500MHD
Wireless: Intel 5300

Only UNIX could be irritating for new users looking for some help on Linux setups, so maybe Linux/UNIX could serve both purposes better - accuracy and pragmatics

I'm thinking it could be something like this:
Linux (And Other UNIX-like Systems)
Discuss anything using a forward slash to separate path names (excludes Mac OS).

Now now, tylerwylie, that kind of talk may be acceptable at Off the Wall, but here it may be considered taboo.tylerwylie wrote:wswartzendruber wrote:I'm thinking it could be something like this:

I don't see the need for renaming ... things work well the way they are and we anyway say "Solaris, RedHat, FreeBSD and the like" under the main heading ...
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU
Rules of the road

Just found this thread. I'm wondering why Linux is the only sub-forum that has "Questions" tacked to the end of it? It's not "Windows OS Questions" or "ThinkPad T4x Series Questions". For consistency's sake, I think "Linux Questions" should be renamed to simply "Linux". For what it's worth . . .

"Linux Questions" makes sense because so many people get confused by it.Paul Unger wrote:Just found this thread.
