Is the PM function perhaps disabled during the conversion? I seem to have a couple "stuck" in the "outbox!

They would only be "stuck" if you know for sure that the addressee has already read it. Until they do, it remains in the Outbox to give you a chance to edit or delete it.

That is interesting!

I don't know that I've ever looked at the "outbox" before but after sending a couple PM's I thought I'd just "tidy up" a bit and I saw them there after cleaning up the "sent" and "received"!

I don't know that I've used a PM function on another Forum where it functioned exactly like that!

Thanks!!

I am a newbie to the forum and I have the same curious concern as WVZR1.

I posted my first PM last night, and when I went to my Messages I saw that the PM was in the Outbox, indicating that it was sent when I posted it, but it was not in the Sent category. From this thread am I to understand that a PM is not considered Sent until the Recipient has opened it, at which time it is moved from Outbox to Sent?

This is a little confusing; I would think that a message which is queued to be read by the recipient would be considered sent.

It's not working any differently than it did in the previous version.

Yes.

If you're confused, read rkawakami's explanation again...

Here's a concise and semi-pictorial explanation:

- Your composed message is submitted to the PM system ---> message immediately appears in your Outbox
- Until the message is read by the recipient it remains in your Outbox so that you can edit or delete it
- Recipient reads your message ---> message now moves into your Sentbox

At the moment, up to 75 messages can be kept in each one of your mailboxes. Check your "Rules, folders, & settings" link to see what happens if you exceed that limit. I believe that the default action that everyone starts out with will be to withhold acceptance of new messages if your Inbox is full. Also, with the current change to the phpBB3 forum, it's now possible to send a message to multiple parties and even BCC them. I don't know what happens or what you see in the way of Outbox/Sentbox status if only one person on your distribution list reads the message and the others don't.

Keeping that in mind.... Warning: When replying to a PM be sure to check the To: field to see where your message is going. If you are not careful, you might send/say something to someone that you wish you hadn't.
