Link for "view unread posts"?

In addition to the existing links:
Code: Select all
View unanswered posts | View active topics View new posts | View your posts
on top of the page, would it be much trouble to provide a link to "View
unread posts"? which would list all threads that have unread posts in them, independent of my last login (i.e., they would show more than "View new posts").

"Unread" posts can be hard to define. Surely one that has a "View count" of zero has been unread, but a post with a count of 1 can also be unread. How? The poster usually gets presented with the submitted post and that increases the count by one. If the poster then goes back to edit something, that also bumps the count. So you could have a post with a view count of 3 or 4, yet nobody else beside the originator has actually read it.

I have seen something similar called view "Unanswered posts". This is on a phpBB2 forum. I think this is what the OP wants.

No, "unanswered" is already on this forum and was noted by the OP's first post.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear with what I meant with "unread" posts. I meant posts that I hadn't read yet, not the posts that had not been read by anybody at all.
For example, "View new posts" shows all the new posts since my last login. "View active topic" shows many more posts; many of which I have not yet read and some of which I have read. What I would like to see are the all the new posts I have not seen (independent of when I last logged in). "View active topics" for now is a good approximation, except that it also shows topics that I have already read, and therefore would like not to see. Makes sense?

Ah, sorry for my confusion

. You can quickly see which threads you have not
posted in by checking the post icon at the left on the index page. If there's a small black dot in the upper left, that means you haven't posted there. Don't know if there's a way you can see/sort threads that you have not
viewed. The only thing that comes to mind is using your browser's capability of marking which links have been followed (i.e., a different color), but that's not foolproof (clearing your browser's search history will reset all links to the non-followed setting).

The small black dot is actually quite useful. Sometimes I am surprised in what threads I have already posted

.
Why I wouldn't want to/can't rely on the browser to maintain read links is because I read this forum from different computers. Plus, even if I have read a thread, it may be that a new post was made after I last read it but before I last logged in. That's why another link would be quite nice to have. But if it can't be done easily, don't worry about it.
