New Messages No Longer Highlighted

#1 Post by Paul Pennington » Sun Jan 18, 2009 5:31 pm

OK -- The log-in is working now, so on to the next item: The orange highlight at the left of the thread index is not working the way it used to for me since the upgrade. Before, it would reset all the messages to "not orange" when I logged in. Next time I logged in, only the new messages since my last visit would be flagged orange.

Now, they all stay orange no matter what I do. Is this working correctly for anyone else?

It's working for me in IE8, FF3 and Chrome.

Works fine for me too.
Make sure you accept cookies.
Perhaps delete an old cookie from before the switch?

I have tried all of these suggestions, and I also still have this problem.

Press Mark forums read before you leave forum, so next time you visit only new posts will be marked orange...

Mark forums read button is on board index page, on the right side just above subforums list...

Edit: Is there a chance for view posts since last visit option to return? IMO it was better then view new posts...

I actually like the new behavior much better than the "view post since last login" behavior of the old forum.

So do I since, if I lose my connection for some reason, I can still tell what I haven't read.

Excellent! That's the answer. I looked for a function like that but didn't see it. Thanks for the map!

I agree with beGi Is there actually any way to implement both ways for marking unread posts :?: Thus subforums one is never interested in won´t draw one´s attention by alerting orange, not to mention old threads with uninteresting topics (for someone).

Thanks
