Default for displaying search results

(Maybe I'm the only one, then please ignore me but...)
I'm wondering whether when using the forum search, the default for "Display results as:" could be changed from "Posts" to "Topics".
The reason being that displaying the results as posts (or the first 300 characters thereof) is not really helpful (at least in the majority of the cases). For example, searching for "banana": currently the first page of the search results only shows posts from the recent "Banana can't dance" thread, whereas there are altogether 35 topics that have to do something with banana in one way or another.
Also from a performance point of view, setting the default to topics should put less strain on the forum server(s) as less data needs to be returned to the client (web browser).

Make that 3 votes for this, primarily because I often enter the search term and immediately hit the enter key.

I've looked through the admin panel but I don't see any easy way to control the search defaults. A manual edit to the board software is probably needed to implement this. And I too agree... it's easier to look at the search results when they're arranged as topics, instead of individual posts.

It is only a small change in one of the template files.
I could do it in a few minutes. If someone gives me permission? 8)

fwiw, I disagree completely.....and I'm the one stuck on 28kb rural-dialup...

I vastly prefer results as 'posts', and much appreciate TPF defaulting that way....so that I don't have to constantly reset it.

Frankly, I always thought it was a 'user-default' thing.....stored in the cookie, or the board's database user-profile.....isn't it?

If not, it certainly should be.....because half will prefer it like me, and half like the OP. 8)
