Today there was yet another glitch with this forum.
I could not log in or even find forum.thinkpads.com and www.thinkpads.com
Both gave the teal-colored 404 error page with some cPanel and Apache blurb.

I can only access the forum (as of right now) through the back door, using http://67.214.227.38/~thinkpad/forum/

A funny thing I noticed immediately, this backdoor forum has a favicon (red ball, as in www.thinkpads.com), whereas forum.thinkpads.com does NOT show the favicon.

jdhurst is having the same problem.

Yes - same problem. I used the IP address supplied by RBS and got in just fine. Different cookies as well because my saved login had vanished.

I only got here because of helpful emails from Jane (Thank you!), but as I said to her, I started having this problem mid-day at a client and now same thing at home, but these two locations are entirely different in terms of ISP (and therefore local DNS). It appears to be a DNS problem upstream.

Might it replicate overnight? ... JDH

Same problem here on the Verizon ISP in NY. I got the Apache panel most of the day, in fact it just popped up a moment ago again. I am now using

I had the problem about 7:30 pm edt. Works as forum.thinkpads.com since about 7:45 pm

Not working here yet. I am still coming in via the IP address. I still wonder about Vista, because at a client earlier, I got there by name on an XP machine but not on my Vista box. ... JDH

JD, I've been running OSX all day if that helps. IMHO this is a server problem that Bill needs to look into with 'Nightmare Hosting Inc."

I am sitting on the same box, same time with a Windows 98 guest running along with Explorer 6. It resolves by name. My host Vista box will not resolve the name, only the IP. That is new today.

So the question is what? Enough of us have had the cPanel window come up that it is most unlikely to be my machine (network structures, TCP/IP, etc.) ... JDH

Happened to me today too. Got the 404 error. Later it worked. Later still, got the 404 error again. Now it's working

i also got an error message for several hours today when trying forum.thinkpads.com. Since probably more than an hour, i don't get an error message with forum.thinkpads.com any longer, it loads correctly.
http://www.thinkpads.com/forum on the other hand was functional all the time.

it could be that this is a 64-bit vista issue, with 32-bit vista it works now.

I just got it while signed into the forum. All I did was refresh the screen.

How many of you that have gotten the error have clicked on the link to send the error page to support@imwebd.com ?

It may be an interaction with Vista and the Server, but it has to be fundamentally a web server issue. I use lots of web sites and only having the server problem with this one. The cPanel that comes up even works, that is, I can still navigate through it. It is not a 404 page not found error. Also, I have been using this Vista Business 64-bit box for nearly a year now. ... Been in an out several times today and tonight. Not had one issue, at all. Might be that I'm just hitting it at the right time. ISP is AT&T Internet Services, machine is XP3 on Firefox.

I just got in by name on my Vista machine, so the box is fine (AFTER I deleted Temporary files AND Cookies )

So it surely looks some sort of server issue. I didn't see a support@imwebd.com link, but I will look for it next time. ... JDH

I switched off my PC at 11.25am and left home.
Came back ca. 6.00pm, switched on and could access forum.thinkpads.com as usual, without problems.
I'm using XP-Pro/SP3 on a desktop (32-bit).

I sent an email with the error page to support@imwebd.com

I had this issue too early this afternoon. Got home from work today (now Wednesday) at 3a, hit refresh, all was well again.

It was working last night and it is working fine this morning. ... JDH
