No turning on

I have an old IBM think pad laptop.It has also an old battery. Currently it does not turn on when I try it to. please help me,what could the problem be?

There can be many things that will prevent a laptop from turning on. What is the model type? It should be on a label on the bottom of the system and is in a format like nnnn-ccc, where "n" is a number (0-9) and "c" is a character (A-Z, 0-9).
