It's interesting to see IBM's evolution of the original PC from...

IBM PC -> IBM PC XT -> IBM PC AT -> IBM PS/2 -> IBM PC Series -> IBM NetVista -> IBM ThinkCentre

Since this is where IBM left off, I'd say that Lenovo's ThinkCentre line is still the spiritual ancestor of the IBM PC, but the lineups are quite different with the different form factors. In your opinion, which current model would you consider to be the original IBM PC's direct lineage?

Yes, but ThinkCentres range from Thin Clients to All-in-ones. I'm talking about which specific model is the spiritual successor?

Most likely the models that still have expansion slots-- look at the ones with tower casings.

There's also the Aptiva series. I consider the IBM System x3300 M4 the last official descendent of the 'IBM PC'.

All of the new Lenovo stuff is slowly eradicating the IBMisms as time goes on, and it's a constant moving target since there's a new model every year.

I had a desktop and a tower Aptiva in the 90s. Pretty good machines back then.

My vote would be for the ThinkStation over the ThinkCentre. Its a more high-performance, more high-end and more expandable product line. The ThinkCentre line has mostly gone in the direction of small form factor desktops, which makes sense for office PCs. The ThinkStations are more traditional tower form factors, and they look more old-school in their design.

My vote would have been ThinkCentre, if the ThinkCentre was still a tower with expansion, but as others have pointed out that's kind of the ThinkStation now.

With that said, I still daily drive my ThinkCentre A60 (it's my primary PC over my ThinkPad W541 since it has the good GPU for my games) and will always have a close connection to it, as my ThinkCentre A60 has both Lenovo and IBM's branding on the front bezel. (Might be one of the last off the line with dual branding.)
ThinkPad W541: i7 4810MQ @ 2.8GHz, 24GB RAM, Quadro K1100M 2GB
ThinkCentre A60: AMD FX-8370 @ 4.3GHz, 32GB RAM, GTX 1080 Ti 11GB
