Thinkcentre 8705 installing troubles

#1 Post by liliggyracin » Wed Feb 07, 2007 2:22 pm

Machine type 8705-D6U

Heres the deal. I am trying to put a fresh copy of windows XP pro on this machine however it does not read my SATA drive. So I go to support and downloads and look for drivers for the SATA controller. After failing to find them I get frustrated and contacted there SW support. What a mess. The guy pretty much tells me that he wont help me because we are using a different version of XP then what came installed on the machine.... (And to think we are in the process of ordering 300+ machines in the next 3 years) Anyway. I need a driver or a cheat to get xp installed on this machine. I cannot find a darn Driver for the MB on their website. Anyone have any ideas???

Thanks!!

Curtis

Ok nevermind. Close or put this somewhere where others can find it. Here was the problem

There are 2 sata ports on the MB one on top of the other if you are looking at it. It was plugged into the top one which would be #1 it should have been in the bottom one which is labeled #0 the CD was looking for a drive on 0 and not 1. This came from the factory like this and is now installing XP. Just thought I would update in case others had the same problem.

Thanks!!

Curtis
