Upgrading firmware for DVD drive

My shd-16p1s DVD drive (on an M55e pc) fails to read some media types. I hoped to overcome this problem by updating my firmware. I downloaded the most updated firmware for a shd-16p1s drive from the producer's site (http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=99), but upon upgrading got the following error message:

No matched drive detected!
...
Detected drives:
1-0-0-0 E:LITE-ON DVD SHD-16P1S GUS1

Looks like to model on my pc is a special order by Lenovo.

Is there a source for upgrading this drive barand?

Yes, I did.
I found there an update, which claims to solve a different problem. I did install it, assuming that even if it won't help, it won't damage. Well, it solved nothing but luckily, made no damage.
