New A 60 (8700) Raid 1 Install?

I have a new A 60 on order to be my new desktop system. I have an older (3-4 years?) PC that I acquired used that had the Raid 1 setup for mirrored drives. I am ordering the new A 60 with dual 160 GB drives that I want to mirror as soon as it arrives using a PCI raid disk controller card.

Has anybody attempted this? It should be straightforward, BUT I am not sure how this will work with the hidden partition that all IBM/Lenovo computers ship with?

The mirrored drive was a life saver earlier this year when one of my hard drives failed, after having that security blanket I don't really want to go without a mirrored drive setup.

The A 60 will turn my home office into only IBM/Lenovo PC's as it joins my 2 year old T43.
