Rollback of BIOS installation

Hi,
I've updated my M55e's BIOS and encountered a problem, my machine and type information aren't identified by my BIOS. The result isn't harmful, but is a nuisance. Each time I boot my desktop, and error message appears and each time I use the software update service, I'm requested to provide my machine and type id.
As I understand it, these pieces of information are added to the BIOS by the BIOS update. Well, I tried to reinstall the most recent BIOS, but my act was blocked since the new BIOS and the current are identical. Therefore, I would like to rollback my BIOS to it's former version and then update it again, this time hoping for a more successful update. The trial may solve the problem since my most recent update followed a replacement of my motherboard, which might have had implication on my BIOS.
So, how do I rollback my BIOS or how else can I solve my problem?

When you flash the Thinkcentre BIOS you should be prompted to replace or reprogram the serial #. Did you do that? Not sure how successful you'll be in locating an old BIOS unless a user out there has a copy. I know for Thinkpads there is a diskette (HMD) that will let you change serial#'s, not sure for Thinkcentre.

There's an option for keeping a backup

I didn't see an option for a serial number, but I do see an option, which is the default, for keeping a backup. If so, there should be a way to install this backup.
