Intel AMT Q's

#1 Post by Harryc » Wed Jun 04, 2008 8:08 pm

Is there any use for Intel AMT in a standalone environment? How do you disable it on a Thinkcentre? It is not an obvious BIOS option.

In standalone environment AMT doesn't have any use.

As far as disabling it is concerned, make sure you've the latest BIOS:
Determining if your system is AMT capable

Click Start, then click Run.
Type msinfo32.exe, then click OK.
Select System Summary.
Look for BIOS Version/Date. You should see a value similar to either '2MKTxxAUS' or '2JKTxxAUS'. If the first two characters of the value are '2M', then your system is AMT capable and this package applies to your system:

Flash BIOS update - ThinkCentre M55p.

Thanks for the information, I am running 2MKT43A which is the latest BIOS version. I do not see any way to disable AMT. I have submitted a request to Lenovo service to answer this question. If I get a meaningful reply I will post it here.

I heard back from Lenovo support. It is not possible to disable Intel AMT because it is part of the imbedded firmware.
