300PL RAM Limit?
300PL RAM Limit?
The 300PL is advertized with a maximum of 768 Mb, or 256Mb per dimm. Does the bios affect this? With the latest bios upgrade, can I install some of those 2 gig dimms I saw at Mall-Wart?

Is there a Hollander Interchange Manual for computers?
I have been monitoring this thread since it was posted with interest. When I searched for background information, I could not find anything useful. Does anyone have a link where a person could find out what memory will work and what will not (like a Hollander Interchange Manual for computers.)
Anecdotally my old ValuePoint would only take a maximum 64 MB of IBM-Parity ram. A similar vintage PC330 would take both IBM-parity and industry standard (no-parity) ram (up to 128 MB). My IntelliStation M Pro only wants RDRAM and it must be installed in matched pairs. What I would like to know (and I believe this is the question posted by Bookworm) is if the PC300PL takes three 01K1139, 01K1149, KTM1136/256 (PC100 non-parity) at 256 MB each for a total of 768 MB, can a slightly newer version (say a PC133 non-parity, 33L3077 stick, with 512 MB) be installed and boost available ram to 1536 MB?
01K1139: 256MB PC100 CL3 NP SDRAM UDIMM 168 pin gold unbuffered (32M x 64)
33L3077: 512MB PC133 CL3 NP SDRAM UDIMM 168 pin gold inbuffered
In other words, if the form factor is the same, the number of pins the same, the voltage requirements the same, etc. etc. can it be used? Or is the RAM limited by BIOS?
