Power settings and Wifi Connection

#1 Post by BrandonKong » Thu Apr 05, 2012 11:10 am

When I close the lid on my x220, the wifi automatically shuts off. If I try to resume wifi, it takes a few minutes to connect. This is really annoying and just began happening after an update I think. where do you find the settings to keep wifi always on?

Hi, I have no experience with your Thinkpad model, but I would try installing the Power manager as well as the Battery Maximiser and run it. Maybe it will let you change some power management settings affecting your WiFi connection.

Thinkpad power manager has a feature called Instant Resume that keeps your WiFi on even if you enter Standby.

Open Power Manager, switch to Basic mode > click on 'change what closing the lid does and enable Instant Resume to stay online"

I find it weird that this feature is easier to find in basic mode but hard to access if you're in advanced mode.
