HI can anyone tell me if the Thinkpad fan control software would work on a Thinkcentre M73 (tiny). It's not that it's running hot or anything, just that I want to upgrade the cpu then it could be useful.

Re: TPFC
I don't think it will. TPFanControl was designed in mind to read specific bytes of a ThinkPad's embedded controller's memory address to report the temperature sensors' readings, and the fan's speed. ThinkCentres on the other hand are different, and may not exactly have the same embedded controller software that is identical to the ThinkPads' embedded controller software.
SpeedFan is what you are looking for, since it is guaranteed to work on most desktops without problems.
Also, I doubt it would be useful for your M73. A program that controls your M73's fan manually, would only be useful if the ACPI subsystem of your M73's BIOS does not properly manage the fan speeds for hotter processors. Extreme cases like the Xeon E3-1285 v4 or the Core i7-4790K would probably benefit from this, but for other processors that don't have crazy TDP ratings? Don't think so.

Re: TPFC
Thanks Screamer I really appreciate the detailed reply. I don't think I will even bother with Speedfan then, because the M73 tiny is designed to handle up to an i7 processor.
