Hello,
I don't know why but the model number changed in the bios. I have a thinkpad t42 2378-fvu and now the model is 2373-fvu.
I know I can change the model number in the bios but only the 3 last letters not the numbers.
Do you know how I could change 2373 with 2378?
Thanks

Welcome to thinkpads.com! (lurking for a long time huh?)
Did you recently have your laptop serviced? Replacing the motherboard could account for that type of change. If so, return the system to whoever repaired it and ask them to correct the type number.
P.S. Please update your profile to indicate your city/state or country. Thanks!

Thnaks for your help.
I can't contact the company who did the service on my laptop...I'm in colombia right now and they are in Canada. So I would like to solve this problem alone.
Are you sure there is no explication for this change of model number?
Thank you
