TPFanControl on X20 type 2662

Just wondering which version i should run on my x20 and what temp. should the x20 be running at?

v.025
v.033
v.041
v.042
v.050
v.055
v.060
v.061

Run the latest one (0.61). Normal temperatures are likely to be in the 40C-60C range. Given that you are getting the freezing happening on your X20, keep monitoring the temperature and see whether it is rising before the system freezes.

i did decide to run 0.061, the temp does go up before it frezzes, how do you edit it like change fan speed

There is a config file to change the fan speed thresholds -- tpfancontrol.ini, I think.

How hot did it get before it froze?

The temp. hit 68 then it froze thats a little hot for a pIII and kk i'll mess with that then. you've been a big help! is this a common problem with the x20's? and i don't kno if you saw in my other theard if i was to take my x20 apart is there anything i need to kno before hand? and if possible i'll make a thread with pics on how to take apart the x20 if thats ok with the admins

I've never owned n X20, but I don't think it's a common problem. 68C is quite hot, though, and I think you said earlier that it's not heavily loaded (not running at 100% CPU) when this happens, right? Is the fan running when it gets up to 68C? How fast does TPFanControl think it's running?

Basic disassembly is not too difficult if you follow the instructions in the HMM.

If you post a thread with pics, make them not too big (see the forum rules) and make sure to include *PIC* in the subject line as a warning.

actually the computer was under a load when it froze (100%) i will try and post the tpfancontrol under here so you can view it. i will make a theard when i do tear the laptop apart and i will abide by the pic rules.

runs better but after 2 hours it froze i think the hdd is the problem cause it started clicking and its brand new :( at least its got a warrnty :)

any suggestions??? still freezing running cool hdd ( when you move the hdd back and forth sounds like something is clicking around in it, this is when the hdd is out of the laptop)
