TP Fan Control: Memory Leak and CPU consumption

#1 Post by dozer » Sun Jul 12, 2009 8:22 pm

howdy guys,

Is anyone else seeing a memory-leak with TPFC?

I'm running "v0.41 by troubadix" on win2000, and the RAM used (via task manager) consistently increases throughout the day.

It starts off around 1,100 KB, and by the end of the day is in the 40MB area. It will just keep climbing and climbing, the longer the machine runs.

Interestingly enough, I can reset it to 1100kb by clicking the tooltray icon to open the TPFC window, and close it again.

I haven't upgraded to v.62 yet....perhaps someone knows if this has been found and fixed?

Also....CPU Consumption:

While sitting with an idle machine, watching processes in Task Manager, sorted by cpu-percentage.....I often see TPFC pop to the top of the list for a few seconds with 1-2%....then get replaced by something else....then appear back at the top using cpu.

I can't imagine what tpfc could be doing that would need even 1-2% of a 2ghz dual-core processor...

I am working on optimizing this particular machine for the lowest possible power-consumption, and this 1-2% cpu is a significant fraction of total cpu-consumption while 'idling' (e.g., reading a webpage).

thanks,

Richard
