FN Keys without pressing them

Hi all,

is there any programm, command line or similar that simulates the press of a FN-Key?

Reason:
I am controlling some of my Notebooks via remote software (VNC) and when finished, I would like to "turn off monitor" (but not the PC itself), so it will also really shut off the background lamp to safe energy, not only a screensaver.

I have not found any way to do it. Also, it seems that as long as the VNC is running, it will not allow for shutoff the monitor at all (have tried to but did not react when keys are pressed).

I now used the Windows functionality to switch the monitor off after 10 Minutes (the Energy saving tab) but that is not the same - it also switches off if someone uses the TP and does not hit the keyboard or mouse.

Any input on that?

Thanks & regards
jwka

I suppose you can simply get a program that runs the Lenovo "PWMOSDV.EXE" in "C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utilities"
If you set Fn+F3 to turn off the monitor instead of asking to change power plans, then running PWMOSDV will be the same as pressing Fn+F3.

I'm pretty sure this will work remotely; I have that little Ease of Access button on the login page set to turn the display off, so, I figure running it in different user contexts should work the same way.

There are two threads here about tiny programs that turn off the LCD, no need to change the Fn+F3 settings. Here's one:

He will still probably need a way to run this after he logged off from VNC. A simple delay would do, maybe a one shot task in system task planner.

Seems I have not monitored this thread accordingly ... sorry for this late reply.

@AMATIX: what kind of macro program do you mean that could simulate the key pressed?

Thanks ind advance
