Power Supply for T30

#1 Post by Alex777 » Sun Sep 30, 2018 7:47 am

Hello everyone!

The original power supply of my IBM ThinkPad T30 has been making some buzzing sounds recently so I've been looking for replacements to avoid any explosions.

Can someone please recommend me a safe power supply for that laptop, because I've been told that using an "universal" power supply isn't very good for laptops. A recommendation for certain power supply or maybe even a link to buy it from somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, I saw quite many chargers over there, but aren't they very likely to be just as faulty as mine? Aren't I better of with a third party new charger or is the risk high?

Just ordered one marketed as "new". I hope it works just fine.

New? In 2018? I just don't eat this apple.

It's close to impossible to get a new and ggenuine charger for that. Check it with multimeter at least prior t plugging it to your T30. My bet it's either a fake or somebody did not tell you the whole truth :)

Okay it just came. It was a disaster. It was even worse than my original one. Thankfully I didn't plug it into my T30 and it was making all kinds of weird noises.

I mustn't be so naive.

Drop in an info here on the forum. Many EU users have lots of those (since they were compatible with quite a couple of years of production units)
