Not worth it, IMHO. While the T30 would likely run 7 just fine, drivers for some of it's devices just don't exist.

Neil is on the money.

The biggest problem will be the graphics driver, and you will not get that to work properly, ever.

Any pre-Radeon 9600 ThinkPad has no business running W7.

Attempted on a Z60t, never got the video working right. Display was fine, but never got the shutdown/Hibernate/Lid switch to resume correctly. YMMV but its not worth the hassle!

uBuntu on the other hand loves the T30. If you need more flash download and install Macbuntu. I get people oohing and aahing over my T30 running Macbun all the time.

Works great. Just have a legit copy so you can get all the updates. Tested with a Pro copy. (My test copy isn't legit but I'm testing for the full 30 days untill it locks me out.) I hope to use a student discount or get an OEM licence for pro.

Installing W7 on a T30 is probably not much of a problem (apart from missing video drivers).
But RUNNING it with some acceptable multitasking will be nearly impossible!
Browser with one or two tabs? No problem.
Adding MS Word, a music program, or even any old game? Forget it.
W7 has no business being on a T30!
Anybody claiming a different story is telling a load of BS!
I have played with T30s till the cows came home.
I even want to go as far as saying that I was some sort of a T30 Guru!
Sorry, this machine is just too old and too weak!

I guess its what You plan to do with it. I used mine to play StarCraft at a old school LAN party. Using wireless instead of a wired connection.

As for the videocard I got mine working. In my other thread I put where I got it from and how I got it to install.

It's not going to play Unreal Tournament 2004. But it plays regular Unreal Tournament from 1999.

I'm not claiming to be a guru or anything. I just know that its working for me for now.

However... I am borrowing a freind's disk and he won't let me activate it. So for 30 days I have Windows 7. After? I will be trying XP.
