Chrometal Information? (S3 Savage)

#1 Post by segacd » Sun Mar 11, 2012 5:58 pm

Hey guys! Long time watcher, first time poster here!

I know its bad etiquette to make a request thread on my first post, but I am stuck in a bit of a dilemma! I have ran Windows 7(!) on my S3 Savage enabled laptop for approximately the last year and a half and while it runs excellently (to my initial surprise), the video card is one of the biggest sources of grief. (I have been using the newest IBM T20 drivers for the Savage.) The other day I heard about the unofficial ChroMetal drivers which were supposedly a decent improvement over the old drivers; however, I have scoured, and I do mean scoured, the web for the elusive drivers all to no avail. Since its been a few years since these drivers were last updated...and since the demise of MegaUpload, it seems nobody online has a copy of these drivers. So here I am. I am almost certain someone on these forums must have a copy of them stored away somewhere, and if possible, could someone share version 4.9 with me (and other S3 Savage users out there)? Even the smallest performance increase would be a godsend!

Also, during my travels through the internet jungle, I came across a thread ( http://67.214.227.38/~thinkpad/forum/vi ... b781f570fd ) which mentioned a driver similar to ChroMetal...but that improved flash video performance by ~30%! If anyone has information on these "3DP 8.01" drivers, that would be wonderful too! :D

Thanks ahead of time!

Hi segacd!

The Chrometal drivers 4.9 can be found here: http://ul.to/lt85bmdl

And here is a link to the page of "3DP", who also fiddled with the Chrometal drivers.
For the moment, I can't find a link to any Savage drivers on the page: http://vga.pe.kr/xe/?mid=driver&categor ... t_srl=6527

Oh, just found another link on http://www.3dpchip.com/driver/gc6.html. (Which seems to be the same package)

Best Regards,

Nom
