trying to dowload new McAfee internet security.

#1 Post by markh75 » Sat Aug 11, 2012 2:45 pm

I have an IBT T23, and i need to download a new internet security program.
It gets through to downlaod it and then comes up with a window saying that McAfee embedded installer has encountered a problem and needs to close down.
I have tried everything, tried installing the program countless times, emptied the temp folders, had McAfee virtual technician, reloaded windows, you name it; but it goes to the same place and stops. I dont think the place i bought it from wants to know, i phoned and he said to reload windows, which i have done, twice!
Its seems theres a problem in Windows, any ideas?

regards, Markh75.

Welcome to the forum.
Which Windows version?
Nothing newer than XP I hope, Vista or W7 are a nono.
I would get MS Security Essentials instead.
It's a lot less bloatware than McAfee and best of all: it's free.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Welcome to the forum Mark.

More than likely your T23 is right on the edge for McAfee's minimum system requirements. Here is the link to the minimum system requirements for McAfee Internet Security Suite 2012....

I would just install Microsoft's Security Essentials as RBS recommended. I have that installed on my T23 and it runs just fine under Windows XP without using a lot of Windows resources.
