CPU speed issue
Hello. I have a T30 1.8GHz with 1GB RAM. I seem to be having processor issues. When I look at the system properties, I see it says 1.8GHz, but then right after that, it says 791MHz or sometimes 790MHz. And I can tell the computer has slowed down since I started seeing this change... even though I have just reformatted the laptop. I have the latest BIOS v2.1 and have all the power management and CPU power saving features turned off in the BIOS, but I still see this less than half CPU speed usage. Does anyone know how I can fix this and have the processor always running at 1.8GHz? Much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: CPU speed issue
You will also need to have a working battery installed, to get full speed.

Re: CPU speed issue
You also dont really need it to run at 1.8 all the time. With Speed Step, it will only run at 1.8 when stressed.
After more than 3 dozen machines built and donated, I prefer using NoteBook Hardware Control. It seems to control better, and runs cooler than leaving the Intel SpeedStep to its own devices.

Re: CPU speed issue
My battery is pretty much dead... the bettery light is constantly flashing on the laptop. And if I disconnect the adapter, the laptop shuts off within 10 seconds. I don't think this old laptop is worth purchasing a battery for, so isn't there any other way to get the CPU speed back up 1.8GHz. I tried the NHC as recommended, but even when I set that to Max Performance, it still doesn't increase the speed in the system properties. Does anyone know of an alternate way to get the speed back? Thanks.
