T30 Screen Cable Replacement
Is there an easy way of replacing the screen ribbon cable.
I have removed the screen without any problem, but the cable plug to the motherboard is covered with a tab that seems to be part of the casing.
Does it need a major strip down to remove this ?

Hi Bernard, welcome to thinkpads.com!
It doesn't take a major breakdown, but there are a few parts to remove to get at the connector. The job is much easier if you follow the procedure in the Hardware Maintenance Manual.
The Lenovo support web site seems especially sluggish today, so you have to be patient.

Re: T30 Screen Cable Replacement
I have removed the screen and the keyboard.
I can see the connector connecting the screen to the mobo but it is covered by a part of the casing
and can't just be lifted off.
Hardware manual does not show this tab.
Tempted to cut it off (gently) with a sharp blade (the tab, not the cable).

You need to first take the keyboard bezel/palmrest and hingecover off before you can remove the cable!
See items 1120 and 1130, then lift the LCD cable off as described/shown in 1140 in the HMM.

Side note, since I did not see anyone mention it:
There are 2 different cable. They are NOT interchangeable, stick with the right FRU number and your good to go.
