T30 SXGA LCD help and also battery info

#1 Post by cheystar » Mon May 20, 2013 11:11 am

I am thinking of replacing the t30 xga screen to an sxga. Am trying to search for a compatible screen. I used thinkpad tft wiki to look for the model no of the screen, but what I have found on ebay is pretty pricey. I was wondering if there are other thinkpad model screens I could use and also would I need to change the lcd cable too? Also I recently found locally a battery for thinkpad r30 and was wondering if it would fit the t30.

You can't use an R30 battery in a T30.

You also can't use any panels seen in other ThinkPads, only the ones specifically designed for T30.

A different LCD cable is required as well when going from XGA to SXGA+ on these machines.

I made an adapter cable using a connector from busted T30 LCD and 20pin regular LCD cable, this enables use of whichever 20pin LCD I want, took the SXGA+ panel from T21 and modified T30 LCD cable to enable SXGA+. Works like a charm!
