T23...location of fuses... *PICS*

#1 Post by PandorasThinkpad » Thu Sep 17, 2015 9:07 pm

Hi!

Just try to find F5 on the T23 mainboard....and it seems to be connected with C192 and C198....but i haven't found either those....

I have this plan....Image

does anyone know where F5 is located on the mainboard...it is the backlight fuse...and this fuse must have been damaged with an faulty inverter on my first LED Mod on the T23...

At the T22 Mainboard there are some located...but F5 is almost missing....

This picture is a very good one of the T23 mainboard section.....round the display connector...thanks rkawakami for this....

Image

So can someone please mark the F5 for me?! Many Thanks for this!!

Which of this is it, please? Image

Which kind of fuse is this and with which new fuse i can replace it...were will i get such a fuse?

And what about the other fuses, does anyone have a nice picture of the T23 mainboard...where they have been marked and named?

This may be the collection for this...

I want to repair this board....

So can anyone help me in this?

Thanx a lot!

Sincerly,

PANdoRa

Here's the F4 and F5 fuses (Littelfuse 434002):

Mouser.com and Digikey.com are two places I've ordered stuff like this. Don't know if they can/will ship to Germany or what the cost would be. I'd would look for a local distributor of Littelfuse components.

If you are capable of de-soldering, then remove it from a worthless T61. :P I found (what looks like) one Littelfuse 434002 in T61p (42X7212; FRU 42W7653). Located near monitor/display-out (HD15) port, near a chip ADP3207 (square 40 pins). I did not manage to remove it. I managed only to melt/burn it.

You asked about these fuses, and ray answered, previously.

Thanks Ray and automobus!

On the given picture they look huge but on the mainboard in reality.....they are such small pieces...so i will have to find someone here in germany able to change it....if it will be really F5....and this i have to find out....when i once will have bought an multimeter..

but if the next Mod fails again....and i got once again an modded inverter with an defect....so i will solder an point on the fuse and try it out....if this will work....

What i always did before changing display,

plug out the power supply,
take out the battery,
take out the cmos battery,
pull the on/off for about thirty seconds

Then install the display...

It would be a great thing if anyone would be able to give the location of some other fuses on the T23 and what they are good for...

Kindly,

Success!!!

Just put a point solder on the F5..aaaaannnnd....just see....Image and i already have tested the modding kit.....for my second T23 in SXGA+ LED...Image

So just a question, what may happen when i let this at it is...what will burn if anything is going to be.....

Is there any other fuse behind the F5 that will be able to avoid whole burning of board or so?

Thanks!

Kind regards,

PANdoRa

If you have soldered across the burnt fuse, meaning that there is no more protection to the circuit it was connected to, then you may be playing with fire. Generally there is only one fuse for any particular power supply/circuit. In the T23, F5 appears to protect one of the voltage outputs from the Toshiba TB6808 that goes through a MOSFET. If you short out that supply, the MOSFET will likely blow. It's never a good idea to "fix" a fuse by replacing it with a solder bridge. Your system, your choice.

Thanks, Ray!

So i just keep this board just for testing issue..and when i find some one with special supply, because for changing the fuse a mircoscope or so will be needed...then i will let change the fuse....and i found one that will fit....this...2A flink SMD,SMT 0603,32V, BOURNS SF-0603F200-2...so if anyone is searching for such an fuse...

Well, another question....would it make a difference if i only use this board with the modded SXGA+ screen....the LED's wouldn't need any fuse...because there is no high voltage...right?

Kind regards,
