i dont know about Dell laptops. my brother used one of the 12-13 inch dell latitude for work , they look ok and keyboard feels almost same with classic thinkpads but i didnt like the trackpoint. after using thinkpads i cant use any other brand.

t60 came with cracked palmrest
x230 lcd bezel is my mistake as i didnt like, i didnt take care of it. but it came to me with broken palmrest and bottom case last year. it was my only option, actually it is my only modern computer at the moment because it is impossible to afford new ones even same one nowadays.

Well for some reason Dell just never makes great trackpoints until like very recently. It is just something one has to get used to if they choose a Latitude/Precision.
But that said though the touchpad on this thing is quite a bit larger and more precise than the one I had on my T4x. Like you can only depend on the trackpoint on a T4x to have precise movements and you can only depend on a Touchpad on a Latitude to have precise movements.
And well my mum has a ThinkPad X220 for like 8 years and during then I have to perform a fan replacement (fan failure) AND I have to replace the palmrest because it is slowly chipping and cracking away. And even then the lid antenna cover starts to come off.
